The winery belonging to the impressive Castello degli Angeli was a big surprise for us at Vinitaly 2017. Located 60 km northeast of Milan, the Castle of Angels can already be seen from afar when approaching. The foundation for viticulture was laid in 1996 by Mauro Taiarioli and the oenologist Rainer Zierock. Today, the (only) 1.8 ha vineyard area is the domain of Fabio Bigolin, the current oenologist. The total annual production amounts to just 7000 bottles of wine! The single vineyards, with slopes of up to 45%, are all located around the castle. A real find from Bergamo.
