José Gil is a young producer from Rioja who is a rising star in the Spanish wine world. Already after two vintages, the wine world took notice of the young José Gil and his wife Victoria, who is originally from Uruguay. He was named "Young Winemaker of the Year 2021" by Tim Atkin (MW) in his Rioja Report and was recognized by Luis Gutiérrez as one of the best emerging talents in the region. As a descendant of a winemaking family from San Vicente de la Sonsierra, José and his wife Vicky cultivate 8 hectares of vines mainly in San Vicente, but also in the surrounding villages of Labastida and Briones. The vines range in age from 5 to 130 years. The care of the vines is fully managed by this young couple. They age their wines in a natural cave on a hill above the village of San Vicente. The wines of José and Vicky reflect the couple's full dedication, their vision, and the unique characteristics of their vines. The wines are very fresh, delicate, and extremely elegant.
