Sauvignon Blanc Collio DOC Schiopetto

Mario Schiopetto was born in 1930. He gained experience as a firefighter and later as a truck driver. Among other things, he helped his father select wines for the family-owned inn, which he took over after his parents' death. In 1965, he produced the first pure "Tocai." This marked the beginning of the era of Friulian white wine, which transformed the reputation of Italian white wine. In the following years, Mario became part of a group of Italian winemakers who improved and modernized the production methods of Italian wine. For this, he traveled with Luigi Veronelli through Europe and the United States to learn about other wines and meet local winemakers. In the 1980s, Mario was part of the elite of Italian wine producers and became a teacher and mentor to many young winemakers. The vineyards in the municipalities of Capriva, Zegla, Pradis, and Oleis were leased and upgraded by Mario in 1970 until they became his property in 1989. He cared for every detail and relied on the potential of the "Ponca soils" (typical Friulian marl soils with a high concentration of lime and clay). French elegance, German technology, and Friulian grapes. These are the cornerstones of the Schiopetto style. To unleash the full elegance and origin of the wines, stainless steel is preferred in the production process. In 2014, the company was sold by Mario's three children to the Rotolo family, who continue Mario's mission.
