For a long time, not only the excellent grapes in the Wilchinger vineyard matured, but also the desire to produce their own wine. Jan and Nathalie Christen fulfilled this dream in 2017, precisely in the most weather-challenging wine year in 40 years. In autumn 2017, they did not simply hand over part of their carefully tended grapes to a winery for the first time, but vinified their wine independently. Five different traditional grape varieties are cultivated on a vineyard area of 4.8 ha and processed in the heart of Chläggis at the winery. These are Riesling-Silvaner (Müller-Thurgau), Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder), Regent, and Cabernet Dorsa. The vines, some of which have been nurtured and cared for by Christen Wines for generations, are now at the optimal age for the best grape quality.
