This winery was founded in 1984 by Michele Satta. With this, he established himself at the top of producers from the Maremma. The Maremma region (near Grosseto) with its limestone soils and vineyards facing the sea has great quality potential. The area gained worldwide fame thanks to Sassicaia. In 1993, Michele Satta started an experiment and planted Cabernet and Merlot, and soon after, about 7 ha of Syrah vines followed. These varieties are vinified separately and later blended for his famous Piastraia or the new Bolgheri DOC. Meanwhile, the winery now covers 25 ha of vineyards.
