vinification

The grapes for this elegant rosé come from the southern Tuscan coastal region of Maremma and from the La Solatia winery, near the medieval village of Monteriggioni. The grapes are harvested by hand, then chilled and gently pressed to preserve their freshness and aromas. The must clarifies naturally before fermentation begins at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages on its fine lees for four months, with weekly stirring (batonnage) further enhancing its aromatic diversity and structure.

Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino, inspired by their love for this land and by the reputation of the noble wines that thrive on the hills of Chianti, founded Casa Ruffino in 1877. In 1913, Italo and Francesco Folonari took over the Ruffino winery and enriched it with new vitality and activity, without forgetting the time-honored philosophy of the house.
In 1927, the first Chianti Riserva Ducale was vinified, in recognition and memory of the Duke of Aosta, the first and most significant admirer of Ruffino wines. To this day, this wine is among the most famous in the world from Tuscany. Besides the various Chiantis, Ruffino offers other wines, such as the Supertuscan "Modus" launched in 1997.
